Jayvee Bala is a visual artist and illustrator from Paete, Laguna - the Carving Capital of the Philipines. Living in a small town known for its rich culture and heritage, his fascination to arts started at a very young age. He was greatly influenced by its local artists - from woodcarvers, painters to paper mâché makers. During his early days, he started doing portraitures to support his studies. He primarily used colored pencils and pastels to create a body of work until he got introduced to digital arts.
Bala's artworks depict fusions of Filipino pop culture, symbols and representations which is noticeable on its warm and vibrant tones, bold lines patterns and shapes. Over the years of learning, he is now taking steps on making his own brand as an emerging artist with all of the inspirations from his experiences and roots.
